Probably by Betzy Ählström or Fredrik Kessmeier, ca 1901-1905.
Blown glass in the marquetrie-sur-verre technique, depicting a diver climbing a ladder amongst sea weed and an approaching shark.
History:
Only a few items using this complex technique were produced at Reijmyre during a short period leading up to the Turin World's Fair in 1902 and shortly thereafter.
The Turin World's Fair took place from May to November 1902. Fredrik Kessmeier and Carl Reimers oversaw the production of Reijmyre’s glass artworks, with the first pieces blown in Kessmeier's workshop. Dag Widman notes that artists Anna and Ferdinand Boberg, along with Betzy Ählström, designed the collection. Unlike Kosta, Reijmyre used marvering and application techniques, similar to Gallé’s "marqueterie sur verre." Crushed and colored glass rods were fused into the glass, creating patterns inside the mass, resembling later graal glass. Reijmyre’s production book documents these “Gallé glasses” from December 1901 to August 1902, with some models continuing until 1905. The intricate technique was unsuitable for mass production, leading the factory to refocus on crystal glass.
