Pair of Näfveqvarns Urns
1920s
Cast iron with relief decoration. "Venus Stiger fran Havet" [Venus rises from the sea].
An example of this urn was exhibited at the Swedish Pavilion at the Paris World Exhibition 1925. The Swedish Pavilion, designed by Carl Bergstein, took the form of a neo-Greek temple with attenuated Ionic columns. Neo-Greek furniture designed by Erik Gunnar Asplund complemented the architecture.
