Hand blown glass. Cut decoration. Enamelled, opaque glass.
Provenance:
Edward James, Monkton House.
History:
These masks were shown at the Stockholm Exhibition in 1930. In the exhibition for glass, twelve companies presented their work. Orrefors Glasbruk had the larges exhibition area. In additional to the space in the common hall, they had an enclosed, dark, spectacular space with under-lit wall podiums, in which several works of the newly engaged artist Vicke Lindstrand were shown. The wall masks hung on the wall. One cries, one smiles - performing Tragedy and Comedy. Only a few of these masks were produced. Vicke Lindstrand himself had a crying mask.
