Pair of 'Sistrah' Table Lamps
1930s
Model T3, designed in 1932.
Opaline and clear glass, assembled shade, one example nickel plated, other example chrome plated. Adjustable bulb height.
History:
The Sistrah luminary was originally developed by Otto Müller in collaboration with the Lichttechnisches Institut of the Technical University of Karlsruhe. The idea was to develop technical luminaires that would meet the widest possible lighting needs in restaurants, shops, industries or health care. The Sistrah principle was patented in Germany, among other countries, and the trademark ‘Megaphos’ was used for export. In Sweden, licensed production took place at Einar Bäckström's metalware factory in Malmö.
