History:
This cabinet was designed by Asplund around 1920 and was made for their own home, Gerda Sellman Asplund’s, private home at Mosebacke Torg in Stockholm. It was later moved to Långängens Gård in Stocksund when the family relocated there in 1927. The cabinet was produced at Nordiska Kompaniet workshops in Nyköping at Asplund’s request. Allegedly the carved female figure is modelled after Gerda.
Literature:
Compare with the decor on the cabinet designed by Asplund for the jury room of the Lister County Courthouse in Sölvesborg, completed in 1921.
