Garden of Celestial Delights at Galerie56
Oct 12 - Nov 28
“Garden of Celestial Delights” is the first exhibition at Galerie56, a platform conceived to celebrate the intersection of art, architecture and design. Based on Hieronymus Bosch’s Painting - “Garden Of Earthly Delights “, Lee Mindel, Ole Hostbo and Paul Jackson explore the unique worlds of Denmark, Sweden, and Finland through the works of Olafur Eliasson, Alvar Aalto, Hans Wegner, Poul Henningsen, Barbro Nilsson, Timo Sarpaneva, Finn Juhl, and Axel Salto to name a few. As Bosch’s painting examines the creative spirit of inception from deep within the ground, the current selling exhibition reaches from the earth to the sky to celebrate the rigor, honesty, and poetry of the Nordic countries that are so affected by light. Although the flags of Denmark, Sweden and Finland have the same geometry, their color palette changes, thus both unifying and distinguishing them from each other.
Please join us at 56 Leonard (240 Church Street) in the new Shelton Mindel designed space at the base of Herzog and de Meuron’s famed ‘Jenga Tower’. Open Monday through Friday from 10am -6pm or by appointment until November 14, 2022.
