The Italian textile artist Renata Bonfanti (1929-2018) distinguished herself as the first to elevate rugs into a design object. She managed to blur the lines between craftsmanship, design and art, by experimenting with combining natural and artificial fibers. Bonfanti's creations are marked by an ongoing conversation between art and architecture. Her primary concern revolves around the ways to enhance an interior space with color or figurative sequences that either transform or finalize it.
