Jørgen Høj
1925-1994
jorgen hoj studied at the danish school of arts and crafts where he met poul kjaerholm.
he was trained as a metal worker and upholsterer and won the silver medal awarded by the school in 1947. since he finished his education, he has run his own design stu- dio working with design, graphics and interiors.
jorgen hoj exhibited several times at the cabinetmakers’ guild annual exhibition and featured in a common project with poul kjaerholm, the self assembly furniture in 1952. functionality is an absolute requirement in jorgen hoj’ s work. .he proposed a very progressive design using new industrial materials as aluminum. he collaborated with ivan schlechter and niels vitsoe.
jorgen hoj was in charge of rebuilding, furnishing, furniture systems, exhibition rooms and all the graphical works for the chain shops «twilift» and «nordiska galleriet».
he collaborated on royal hotel and hotel scandinavia and on the furnishing for imperial biografen and dagmar cinema in copenhaegen.
he was a member of industrial designers danmark.
