Laminated beech bentwood frame. Plywood and laminated birch forming seat and back. Designed between 1931-1932.
This is a very nice early production Alvar Aaalto type 31/42 cantilevered armchair, originally designed for the Paimio Sanitorium, produced by O.y. Huonekalu-ja Rakennustyotehdas A.b. Turku and retailed in the UK by Finmar. The chair is constructed of bent laminated birch ply.

Patent application for swedish patent on priority from England and Finmar 1933, probably on request from the well known co owner of Finmar, Architect Philip Morton Shand.
